  Divorce...The Straight-up Truth

I feel your pain as you read this topic. There’s a very caring attitude that follows…but it may be hard to detect because of the cold slap of reality in my words. Please, find some humor and compassion hidden in the words that follow.

Here we go…

…Divorces are hard...let me say that again…divorces are HARD!

They’re emotional and costly. I’ve been through one myself and am NOT proud of it. I’ve handled the sale of MANY divorcing couple’s homes. I do NOT take divorces lightly. Sometimes, I feel somewhat like Danny DeVito in the movie “The War Of The Roses.”

You NEED an independent person in this process...someone to help you focus on REALITY rather than your emotions. You’re in a giant mess right now and you’ve got to get it resolved!! You probably CAN’T BE OBJECTIVE and neither can your "soon to be ex." If you don’t do the right things, you're going to forfeit a lot of money...a big mistake just because you’re angry!

Do I have your attention yet?? The next part is going to sound a little cruel. I assure you it’s not. It’s just a little of that “cold slap” I mentioned before.

If your marital home needs to be sold, NOBODY CARES how much you “NEED” for it!! It’s worth what a willing buyer will give you for it – and that’s all (HEY, that’s the definition of “fair market value”)!

No one will compensate you for your memories, your anger, your "personal touches", or your inconvenience when you sell your home. Think about it, you’re not going to overpay for your next home just because the seller “needs” or “wants” more money – don’t believe that someone will do it for you.

If you don’t believe what I’ve just said, you're not dealing with reality - and it's going to cost you LOTS of money.

At this point, I’ve either convinced you I know what I’m talking about - or not. The decision is yours…if you want my help, I’m available to work with you – both of you. I expect to receive your full mutual cooperation in return. I will NOT take sides or get caught up in your anger. My sole purpose is to help both parties get on with their lives – you’ll both thank me for my dedication to both of you later.
